Quincy Preserves
Quincy Preserves is dedicated to the awareness, education and preservation of the rich architectural and historical heritage of Quincy through many venues. These include various workshops, guest speakers and two annual architectural tours, one in October and one in December.
They have also assisted in the establishment of the East End, South Side German and Downtown Historic Districts and the proposed North Side Historic District. They are involved in cooperative efforts in awareness projects with other preservation architecture and historic groups in Quincy reaching all age groups.
Since the 1970's, the Quincy Preserves has awarded over 100 brass plaques to local structures in recognition of their architectural and historical significance, and to recognize high levels of preservation maintenance.
Quincy Preserves encourages owners of architecturally and historically significant structures to restore and maintain them to their original condition.
Donations are made to the Quincy Public Library each year for the purchase of preservation reading materials. Quincy Preserves also expends funds for the restoration of several valued buildings through the Facade Program, and to other community projects such as the Woodland Cemetery rehabilitation project and the Washington Theater restoration project.
