Friends of the Castle

Friends of the Castle is the not-for-profit organization which restored, and now manages, operates and maintains the Villa Kathrine, a unique example of Mediterranean architecture in the Midwest.

The Villa Kathrine is owned by the Quincy Park District and leased by the Friends of the Castle.  It is located on the Great River Road at 532 Gardner Expressway on a bluff with a breath-taking view of the Mississippi River. Built in 1900, it is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Illinois Register of Historic Places. 

The Villa Kathrine, which is celebrating its 21st year as Quincy's TOurist Information Center and Great River Road Interpretive Center, is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

Individual and group tours are available, and the building and grounds are available to rent for weddings, parties, meetings, receptions and other special events.
