City of Quincy Awards

The City of Quincy Arts Awards are sponsored by The Quincy Herald-Whig. The 2007 awards were presented at the noon meeting of the Exchange Club on Friday, January 4, 2008. Recipients of the 2007 City of Quincy Arts Awards were included in the following seven categories:
  1. Arts Organization: Quincy Concert Band
    A nonprofit organization that has made a substantial impact on the cultural development of this area demonstrated through exceptional artistic achievement, outstanding programming or other leadership activities.
  2. Individual Artist /Teacher:  Monica Scholz
    A living artist or teacher, residing in Adams County, who has made a significant contribution in his/her artistic discipline and to the arts in Quincy and Adams County in Illinois.
  3. Business Leadership:  Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
    A local business or corporation that has demonstrated a significant commitment to the arts, recognizing the imperative role of public/private partnership.  This commitment may be in the form of financial, personnel and/or research.
  4. Individual Volunteer Leadership:  Leroy Boeckelman
    A volunteer who has consistently supported the arts through a commitment of personal time, energy and devotion.
  5. President's Award: Cindy Meyer 
  6. Best Member Organization Booth at Riverfest: Mississippi Thespians
  7. Best of Show at Riverfest: David Carter

The City of Quincy Arts Awards winners were given original artwork created by Sarah Siwek, Cheyenne Dedmon, Michael Jackson, Bo Joiner and Clarissa Hallmark; all are students in Kathy Hyer's art classes at Quincy High School.
